destiny

What are we?

We’re mere mortals. Mortals who are simply passing through this passage of time in the cycle of life. At the end of our life, we move away from this realm, and over time so will our memories and after by its very nature, our existence. So is there any reason for us to exist?

I have been searching for the meaning of life. For my — for our calling. What are we created for? What were we meant for? We call out to what we deem a greater existence, and we ask for guidance to the path that we are destined to be in.

Destiny. Destiny?

‘The events that will necessarily happen to a particular person or thing in the future.’

The predetermined fate of one.

If we choose to believe such a thing exists, how will that affect our own course of action? We can only ponder, does a predetermined destination equate a journey that has been set? Are these very words, each key press, planned by a rationalized fate?

No one knows. We could merely be pawns — set upon a path with every single thing we do planned and programmed. The “freedom” we so cherish being an illusion, a mere spectacle to let us believe that we are in control.

Or perhaps ‘destiny’ is simply a word meant to ease the discomfort in our hearts. To calm people who do not know their way to the future. The belief of destiny itself acting as an agent of calm, making us think that everything is going to be okay.

To those people, perhaps some have relief too heavily to the expression. To those who does nothing because they hope destiny will construct a path for you, perhaps it is time to scratch that belief.

Either way, we all seek reasons to stay. Just like in a relationship, we keep on holding to the belief that it could be something more. Yet nevertheless the reasons eventually begin to disappear and become mere abstract thoughts in one’s mind. People start believing in fates because they have some hope to hold on.

But how would you save those drowning in believing that there is no purpose to stay? What if they don’t believe in such whimsical term? What would you do to comfort their souls?
